Principal's Message

August 14, 2020

Dear Parents,

On behalf of all Erwin Elementary school staff, I welcome you to the 2018-19 school year!  We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms eager to learn and grow. It is our mission to ensure that every student feels welcomed, connected and a part of our Erwin Family. We invite you to call or visit with us when you have a question regarding your child’s progress in school. We plan to keep you informed about school events and activities through our monthly newsletters, Blackboard connect phone messages, placing announcements on our website, and by sending home samples of your child’s work and academic progress reports.

As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

     1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

     2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers

3)Reads daily for enjoyment and to develop literacy skills to the highest level

4)Shares daily experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

5)Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

I encourage you to join our school volunteer program so that our students can also benefit from the many talents and skills our parents can contribute.  We seek volunteers to help us with the following:

     1) Valet service to ensure safety when children are dropped off/picked up at school

     2) Ensuring school routines are smooth at all times

     3) Supporting teachers in a variety of tasks

     4) Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers

Finally, I am attaching a copy of our school rules. It is very important that both you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year.

Please feel free to review the most recent copy of the LAUSD Parent Handbook which can be accessed here in the School Forms and Resources.

I am honored to serve as the principal of Erwin Elementary School. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. I welcome you and thank you for your support.
