Principal's Message

Dear Erwin Families,

A new school year brings excitement, new learnings, and new opportunities for our students.  For our returning families, we welcome you back and we extend a heartfelt welcome to our new students and families. Our commitment and efforts are to make sure we provide students with a good education and help them reach their greatest potential. 

 

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) published the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.  For the next three years, Erwin Elementary and all of LAUSD schools will continue to focus on a singular goal: ensure ALL our students graduate READY FOR THE WORLD – to thrive in college, career, and life. At Erwin Elementary, our students will be engaged in high quality programs to support their growth academically, emotionally, and physically.  We will continue the creative arts programs where students receive instruction in theater, visual arts and vocal music. For the 2023-2024 school year, we will focus on becoming a STEAM Certified school. STEAM is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Erwin will re-open the science lab and launch a Maker-space where students will be actively engaged in scientific investigations, and be provided with the opportunity to be creative, critical thinking and problem solvers.

Parent involvement is the key to student success.  We are happy to announce that all Parent Workshops and Coffee with the Principal will be held at the Parent Center! The office and our parent center director are always available to help our families with any questions they may have. Please reach out to hear about our volunteer opportunities.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to the entire school community for your unwavering support and dedication. Together, we will make this academic year a memorable and successful one.
